If you are looking for the right place to do your summer shopping for fresh and local produce, welcome to our full guide to farmers market near you in the D.C, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area!

There is no better way to support local farmers and food producers, than to buy directly from them. Usually, farmers markets are the best place to find healthy food and drinks, but also to put a face to the farmers and that grow and make your food. Anacostia Community Museum


Address: 1901 Fort Pl SE, Washington, DC 20020
Hours: Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm
Season: April 20-November 23

Located in Southeast DC this farmers market is directly in front of historical Anacostia Community Museum. A Huge perk of going to this farmers market is you can roam around the farmers market and then enjoy a day at the local community museum. 

By the White House


Address: 810 Vermont Ave NW, Washington, DC 20420
Hours: Thursdays 11:00am- 2:00pm
Season: April 4th– November 21


Located right by the White House, this farmers market is the perfect place to grab lunch right before getting started with the weekend. With over 27 vendors, there are plenty of food spot options that will leave you wanting more. From Chinese dumplings to wood fired pizza, you will be excited to go to work just to be able to have lunch there.

There are even vegetables and local cold-press juices, so make sure to skip a visit to the local grocery store just to splurge on your local vendor.


Cesar Chavez


Address: 700 Parkside Pl NE, Washington, DC 20019
Hours: Saturdays 9:00am-1:00pm
Season: June 1st– November 23

These small neighborhood farm stands are the perfect little get away from the hustle and bustle of the high paced city. This farm stand is one of the smaller ones in D.C but still offers high quality produce for all to enjoy and support local foods.

CityCenterDC

Address: 1098 New York Ave NW, Washington, DC 20001
Hours: Tuesdays 11:00am-2:00pm
Season: May 7- October 29

This farms market is another great lunch spot location to explore over 16 different vendors. Located in the heart of downtown, you can take a stroll from your office building or apartment and make your way down for some local food treats on a Tuesday! What a perfect way to start off the work week. You won’t want to miss out on the fun.

Cleveland Park

Address: 3400 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008
Hours: Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
Season: April6-December 21st


Open for most of the year, the Cleveland Park farms market is the perfect neighborhood feeling market with a variety of vendors. There are fresh meats, produce, and prepared foods every week that will allow you to explore something different throughout the months that they are opened. There are currently over 13 different vendors participating this year. This location also makes it a perfect location to access if you are coming in from the Bethesda, Maryland area.

Columbia Heights

Address: Park Rd NW & 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20010
Hours:
Wednesday 3:00pm- 7:00pm
Saturdays 9:00am-1:00pm
Season: May 1st– November 27th

The Columbia heights farmers market is one of the most diverse farmers markets, with lively community, culture, produce, prepared foods, crafts, and much more. There have even been seasons where the market will host community partners like the National Park Service, and other organizations that help create an overall festive feel to it. This farmers market is definitely worth the visit.

Dupont Circle

Address: 1600 20th St NW, Washington, DC 20009
Hours: Sundays 8:30am-1:30pm
Season: January 7th– December 29

This DC farmers market is one of the largest, if not THE largest in all of DC. It is opened basically all year and has been ranked one of the top farmers markets in all the nation by several major publications like the Financial Times of London and The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

As described by the WSJ, it is surely a place that teaches Washingtonians the value of loving their produce. We might even add that if you did not enjoy local farmer marketing shopping before, this market will convert you into a farmers market lover.

 With over 50 different vendors framing the streets of D.C. there is truly something for everyone at this market. This farmers market both attracts lovers of locals and organic foods, while also providing the perfect Sunday activity for your whole family or friends.

Foggy Bottom


Address: 901 23rd St NW, Washington, DC 20052
Hours: Wednesday, 3:00pm-7:00pm
Season: Jan 3-December 18

This farmers market has so many perks- it is conveniently located close to a metro stop, is open all year, AND  George Washington University Students can spend their GWorld bucks at the market. This family friendly, and student friendly market is the perfect after school and after workplace spot to finish off your hump day with some GOOD food.

Vendors offer a variety of products from local eggs, meats, produce, and so much more. The size of the market is on the smaller side, but all the vendors that attend are top notch and you will feel good about supporting local products over the conventional grocery.

H Street NE


Address: 800 13th St NE, Washington, DC 20002
Hours: Saturday 9:00am-12:30pm
Season: April 6-December 21

The H Street farmers market is a staple place for neighbors to come together and gather for a delightful day out shopping and exploring the city. Market goers at H street are encouraged to not only come and shop, but also to “stay for the vibe.” This farmers market has truly become a gather place for neighbors as they shop for their kitchen needs and also just enjoy the atmosphere.

Kenilworth Rec Center


Address: 4321 Ord St NE, Washington, DC 20019
Hours: Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
Season: June 1st– November 23

This farmers market is a local small neighborhood feeling stand, where you can pick up your favorite produce to make all your favorite recipes. There are not many vendors at this stand, but it is a great place to shop if you want to go somewhere new. It is located right next to the Kenilworth Gardens, which makes for a great Saturday morning outing. 

Minnesota Ave.

Address: 322 40th St NE, Washington, DC 20019
Hours: Thursday 1:00pm-4:00pm
Season: June 6- November 21

This farm stand is smaller market that mostly focuses on bringing fruits and vegetables to residents and commuters. The vendor Pleitez Produce is located about 80 miles from DC and their farm focuses on producing tomatoes, beans, peppers, okra, and many more.

This farm stand is the perfect place to stop on your way home from work, school, or any other mid-day activities that can make for a good outing out in the city.

Monroe Street

Address: The Arts Walk, 716 Monroe St NE, Washington, DC 20017
Hours: Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
Season: January 6- December 28

This farmers market is open all year and Is a lively focal point for many in the surrounding neighborhoods. With over 25 different vendors lining the streets, this farmers market is a place not only where you go to find your favorite local foods, vegetables, fruits, drinks, and even pastries- it is also home to many local events.

Some of the standout events for many are, live music, dancing, work out classes and much more. Even if you do not live in this neighborhood, you are not going to want to miss out on visiting this farmers market during your Saturday routine. You will definitely feel yourself emerging into the local DC culture and arts.

Mount Vernon Triangle


Address: 499 I St NW, Washington, DC 20001
Hours: Saturdays 9:00am-1:00pm
Season:January 6- December


This Farmers market is another neighborhood favorite and is one that is top rated by customers and visitors. Located on the out skirts of Chinatown, there are plenty of things to see and do after you have taken a moment to shop from your favorite local vendors.

There are plenty of food producers ranging from Coffee, all the way to empanadas. There is plenty to enjoy here. The best part is that it is open all year, so you have many opportunities to make it there to do some Saturday morning shopping and DC exploring.

Simon Elementary


Address: 401 Mississippi Ave SE, Washington, DC 20032
Hours: Thursdays 2:30pm- 4:30pm
Season: May 2- November 21

This farmers market is located at the Simon Elementary School every Thursday. This farmers market is not only a hub for the community to have access to fresh fruit and vegetables, but it also serves as an opportunity to educate and engage with the local community on the topic of food access and nutrition.

  1. THEARC
    Address: 1901 Mississippi Ave SE, Washington, DC 20020
    Hours: Saturday 10:00am- 2:00pm
    Season: June 1- November 23

The Arch is a small food market located at the border line between D.C and Maryland at the southeast side of D.C. This small market is a smaller market but is host to local growers based in Montgomery County. One of the local vendors is Parkview Farms. They are  a family-owned operation that grows vegetables of all kinds including tomatoes, zucchini, green beans, eggplant, and our favorite Red BEETS! This is the perfect place to find some local red beets for your morning smoothies.

  1. Union Market District
    Address: 1315 6th St NE, Washington, DC 20002
    Hours: Sunday 10:00am-2:00pm
    Season: January 7th– December 29

The Union Market is the perfect place to visit right after your morning church service with some friends or family! It has a robust variety of vendors selling all kinds of fruits, vegetables, and even niche things like juices. This is the perfect place to shop for some groceries and you can even skip on over to union market afterwords and enjoy some early or late lunch.

  1. Uptown
    Address: 5500 Colorado Ave NW, Washington, DC 20011
    Hours: Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
    Season: April 6- November 23

This small family-oriented farmers market is the perfect place to try some high-quality produce and enjoy some of your favorite foods. From Tacos, to baked goods, this is the perfect way to start off your morning or just take a stroll with your family for lunch. The vibe can be described as mellow and quant and is a great place to take a walk, even alone.

  1. Whittier Elementary
    Address: 6201 5th St NW, Washington, DC 20011
    Hours: Tuesdays 3:00pm- 6:00pm
    Season: May 7- November 26

This farmers market is very similar to the Simon Elementary School market. It not only offers local produce to shoppers, but it has also created opportunities for shoppers to learn and engage with healthy and local foods.

One of the biggest farmers markets in Maryland, the Silver Spring market has a lot of local flavors, vendors, and even certified organic products to offer. Its downtown location makes it one of the liveliest settings to shop for your weekly groceries. Occasionally the city will also host neighboring outdoor activities, especially during the warm months. You can expect to seeing dancing, music, and lots of families roaming the streets.

  • Bethesda Central Farm Market
    Address: 935 Prose St, North Bethesda, MD 20852
    Hours: Sunday 9:30am-1:30pm
    Season: April-December

    Located in the heart of pike and rose in North Bethesda, this farmers market is the perfect little gem tucked away in the middle of the Rockville/ Bethesda area. The market is lively, and hosts over 30 vendors every Sunday. There is plenty to see, and even a neighboring dog park where you can bring your fur baby to enjoy.

  • Brookmont farm market
    Address: 6507 Broad St, Bethesda, MD 20816
    hours: Wednesday 4:00pm-7:30pm
    Season: Year Round

    Brookmont farmers market is a lively Wednesday market that is full service, including a pre-ordering option which you can do online. It is one of the best ways to get your favorite local foods for when you are on the go. You also do not want to miss out on live performances and events happening throughout the year. They have a great lively community.

  • Milk Lady Markets
    Address: 11325 Seven Locks Rd, Potomac, MD 20854
    Hours: Sunday 9:00am- 1:00pm
    Season: May- September 29

    This Farmers market is the perfect place to go when you are also looking to get involved in the local community. There are many local vendors that show up and make the space feel lively for the whole family! Most notable is their strawberry festival. There is truly something for everyone, including activities for your kids.

  • General Getty Park
    Address: 10000 Woodland Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20902
    Hours: Every Other Sunday 10:00am-1:00pm
    Season: September- November

  • Garrett park Farmers Market
    Address: 4600 Waverly Ave, Garrett Park, MD 20896
    Hours: Saturdays 9:00am- 1:00pm
    Season: February- December

    Garret park farmers market is a small market that is host to a feature farm, Chicano Sol Farm. It is a local USDA certified farm and  has a variety of plants and crops from strawberry’s to lettuce, and more.

  • Kensington Train Station Lot
    Address: 3701 Howard Ave, Kensington, MD 20895
    Hours: Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm
    Season: Year Round

    Located in the quant town of Kensington, MD, this Is the perfect location if you are looking for a charming outing where you can find the best local products. You can then take a stroll through the town and explore some of the antique row favorites.

  • Montgomery Farm Womens Cooperative Market

    The Ballston farmers market is a great place to go if you are looking for a place to go shopping after work during the week. It is easily accessible and has a large variety of prepared foods like rice bowls, empanadas, pasties, and so much more. You will want to make sure to stop by to see what is going on.

  3. Mosaic
    Address: 2920 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031
    Hours: Sundays 9:00am-2:00pm
    Season: Year-round!
    Located in the thriving shopping district of mosaic, this market is the perfect place to find baked goods, and even exotic foods like ferments. You wont want to skip this market if you are also looking for health handmade dog treats for your dog.
     
  4. Oakton

    This is one of the smaller markets, but still a great option. If you are looking for coffee and produce and sweets you will enjoy the local atmosphere here.
